William McKerracher LLB

Mr
McKerracher is a native of Glasgow and was appointed to the
City of Glasgow Police on 20 May 1974. He was posted to ‘G’
Division and in the ensuing years he served as a Constable undertaking
a range of beat patrol, mobile patrol, detective and general
police duties.
On
26 October 1979, he was promoted Sergeant within the Force Training
Centre. He duly carried out the function of Patrol Sergeant
in both ‘K’ and ‘C’ Divisions respectively.
Mr McKerracher enjoyed a secondment to Legal Services prior
to attending Strathclyde University in 1984 where be subsequently
graduated with an LLB degree some three years later.
In
1987, he was promoted to the rank of Inspector within the Kirkintilloch
Sub-Division prior to being transferred to the Force Research
and Development Branch. In 1990, he was promoted Chief Inspector
and served in Clydebank as both Deputy Sub-Divisional Officer
and Staff Officer. In 1992, he became Project Leader of the
computerisation of the Scottish Criminal Justice System.
